The Justa Farm Mission
Accessible Horse Racing. Responsible Horse Racing.
The Horse Racing Experience.
Horses’ love for running is what makes horse racing beautiful, but greed and corruption have thrown the sport’s reputation into a tailspin. As Hall of Fame trainer Lee Freedman says, “If we don’t make real changes, the court of public opinion will bury racing.” At Justa Farm, we are committed to making those changes for the good of the sport and the animals. The best way to do that is to make the sport accessible to more people by bringing down cost barriers. Everyone deserves to enjoy the horse racing experience.
Justa Farm Partnerships attract a special kind of racing fan. Our goal is to provide a low-cost, high-interaction experience so partners can build a deeper connection with the sport. We are bringing in a new generation of thoroughbred owners and breeders who love horses as much as horse racing. Our partners will leave a positive impact on the horse racing industry that could change the culture. With your help, we can keep the sport alive for the next generation of racing fans.

F. Bruce Miller, the father of Justa Farm owner Ann Betsch, led Lonesome Glory to 7 G1 Stakes wins. He even won an Eclipse Award in the late 90s. In Miller’s training days, racing was about the speed of the horse, and the talent of the trainer and jockey. Too often now, horses are overrun, raced through injury, or even drugged to keep them racing in their prime. Ann’s team at Justa Farm use clean methods to balance competing at a high level with responsible training.
Justa Farm's Commitment to Responsibility

Our impact starts with breeding due diligence. We research generations of bloodlines and stable reputations to breed our horses to have thicker bones, making it easier for them to stay sound. Then, we put our horses’ needs first. We never over-race them and monitor their bodies to get them any treatment they need.
Horses love to run, but it’s our responsibility to make sure they take the time they need to develop. Our horses leave it all on the track for us every time we ask. They deserve our love, respect, and care. Cheering on a horse that you have had a chance to spend time with is like cheering for a friend. To us, that is the horse racing experience.
Our commitment continues when our racehorses retire from the track. We train and sell our retired racehorses to responsible new owners who compete in other disciplines. Many of our horses sell at a premium to riders who need a suitable companion for novice showings in fox hunting, dressage, stadium jumping, or 3-day eventing. We vet potential buyers to ensure the thoroughbred is going to a worthy home.
